A way to seduce the Islamic youth into thinking for themselves.

October 19, 2009

The Islamic youth must be confronted with the Mormon story. This story of Joseph Smith is so similar to the story of Mohammed that if an unbiased listener were to hear both, while he would know for a fact that one is wrong (for they are contradictory), he would not be able to say which were wrong. In fact the Mormon story is more appealing that Mohammed’s by virtue of the fact of witnesses of Smith’s miracle and the fact that Smith ties in closely to the scriptures of the Jews and Christians (and presents a much more exciting afterlife), while Mohammed’s Gabriel-in-the-cave had no other witnesses and had to reject much of those scriptures. While it may not be enough to convince a Muslim hearer, it will awaken in his mind, perhaps for the first time, the idea that Mohammed may have made the whole thing up. For if Smith could be a fraud and still do a better job of Mohammed in concocting a compelling story, that shows that Mohammed could have been a fraud himself, perhaps a compassion and very creative fraud working for the good of the uncivilized tribes of Arabia.

Perhaps some book could be complied and translated into Arabic (and other languages of the Muslims) comparing the stories surrounding the various religions and faiths. An excellent section could compare the stories of Mohammed and Smith and then also Paul, and then call upon the reader to decide which story was the more compelling and then also which the reader might hope were true. My best bet is that Paul’s story will win on both scores.
